our feet on the catacombs floor...when we were done with the tour there was a muddy clay film covering them... |
creepy walk...the flash kills the eerieness.... |
this is a well dug at some point... |
the brightest point in the walk (2 km total under ground) |
row after row after row |
where is death? always in the future or the past. scarcely is it present when it is no more. (thank you "translating ginny") |
sign exiting the bone room where the remains of 6 million people are believed to reside... |
the climb out was heat thumping...83 steps... |
our favorite spot for cafe creme and baguettes on our last trip...today we stopped for lunch...baguette sandwiches and coffee all around... |
we called it a short day...they rain began to fall and so we hit the metro and headed home... we will venture out later for dinner. tomorrow? not sure what we will find...something fabulous i expect! |
Bon jour! Wow, the catacombs . . . creepy, sad. Have never seen the Paris ones but did experience Rome's in 1998. Guide was a creepy monk who giggled throughout the tour. Poor monk LIVED down there. What do you suppose he did to deserve that? Anyway, enjoy the baguettes and everything.
